I had no real choice. Only one answer was acceptable, yet giving it meant losing everything and anything I cared about. It meant losing Owen, and it meant losing myself.
“Daisy?” Owen looked deep into my eyes.
“I love you.” I didn’t think, I didn’t question. I crushed my lips against his, needing to soak up his taste and feel. He responded immediately, deepening the kiss as he wrapped me up in his arms.
Always and forever. Our promised words swirled through my head. Promised words that couldn’t possibly be true. But in that moment it didn’t matter. The truth couldn’t hurt us. Only time could.

About SEDUCTION’S KISS:
Never agree to a road trip to New Orleans with your roommate. At least not when your roommate is dragging you along while she reconnects with an ex-boyfriend. Possible consequences of failing to take my advice:
1) Unknowingly going out with a vampire stripper
2) Getting kidnapped by said vampire’s nest mates
3) Falling head over heels for your winged hero
Believe it or not number 3 is the worst one, especially when no one believes you that he exists.
*Prequel novella to Lure (The Allure Chronicles #1)*
There’s danger in the beauty…
Two years, six months, and twenty-five days. That’s how long it had been since I’d seen my winged hero— not that I’d been counting. I’d suffered through years of counseling just to convince my friends and family that I wasn’t crazy and knew he didn’t exist.
But he did. And I was done waiting.
Days after college graduation I headed back down to New Orleans to retrace my steps and find Owen again only to find my life was about to get even crazier… thanks to the most beautiful and dangerous of all paranormal creatures, the Allures.

I have to admit, I was a little hesitant to crack to this one open. I love Scarlett’s writing style and have been sucked into everything she’s written prior to this, but was concerned the plot wasn’t going to do it for me. It seemed a bit darker than everything of hers that I’ve read before, so I was concerned it would lack one of the things I love most about Scarlett’s work – the humor and banter. I needn’t worry. Obsidian Liquor has everything that makes Scarlett great! There’s some total badassery, just the right amount of snark, humor, and sexiness to make fit right in with the rest of Scarlett Dawn’s repertoire.
I will say, it started a little abruptly for me. I kept feeling like I should already know these characters because there is so much history and background that it left me feeling like I was missing out on a couple chapters that better explain and introduce some of the characters. It wasn’t my favorite of Scarlett’s work, but it was definitely worth a read – and you totally could NOT stop me from digging into the rest of the series as it’s released.
So if you’re looking for something a little dark, a little spicy, and a whole lot sexy, pick this one up!

It might just be her last.
I listen to the thumping of the unmanaged highway and feel sweat slide down the small of my back. The polished leather seat is starting to get uncomfortable. Surely this surface has never itched so much against my skin, or made me feel like I was melting against its heat.
There’s no sense to be talked to this girl. I can offer no condolences when the event that brought us here is bleeding my insides, too. Her brother was my best friend, my mentor. There’s only one thing I can think to say to her, only one truth I never have spoken.
“Maria, I love you.”
Her foot moves like light as she slams it onto the break, throwing me against the giant dashboard before I can realize what she’s doing. She whips the boat onto the side of the road like she’s driving a Roadster and skids it to a complete stop, sending dust flying, and soliciting angry honks from trailing traffic. I have fleeting doubts that she even hears them.
“You what?” she asks hoarsely.
I take a deep breath and peel myself off the dash.
“I love you,” I say again.
I’m staring at the bugs crowding in on the headlights, like I would if I were studying the mysterious screen of a confessional. I don’t want to see her face, with eyes that have glazed over like glass. The silence again blossoms, then spreads between us. The noise of the road seems so suddenly distant.
Moments pass. They fall like years. Only sudden, tiny sniffing sounds can pull my eyes toward her, the only sound that can unfailingly break my resolve. She’s sitting so very still with her hands abandoned on the wheel, hands that are so capable, yet useless now. She’s still staring forward, her eyes wide and momentarily empty. The glass has shattered. Tears have returned to her perfect cheeks. I am so useless in this situation that it hurts deep in my gut.
“No. Joshua. You don’t,” she says to me. Her voice is low, wavering. Her arms might be shaking a little. The steering wheel holds her steady.
I’ve never seen her this distraught. I sit back against the sticky car seat, and look toward the green at the edge of the headlights’ reach, as if the night’s obscurity can save me. I belatedly pull on my seatbelt, and I tell her, “I do. I just wanted you to know. In case we die.”
She punches the gas as fast as she cut it off moments ago. I feel my muscles spread a little over the seat’s surface. My brain experiences the back of my skull. My stomach lurches as she swings the Caddy onto the black top, flinging roadside pebbles like water. We are out of sight before the dust can settle.
She says nothing else.

Seth & Grayson by Jessica Sorensen
Seth. Callie’s best friend. The one who helped to pull her out of her shell. The one who helped her to understand her worth. The one who helped her work through her demons. How can one not love, and I mean love, Seth? We should all be so lucky to have a friend like him. Getting to read the details of his love story – that always remained mysterious in The Coincidence Series – is as much as catching fireflies on a summer night (unless you hate that, in which case insert something else you love).
Possibly my favorite thing about this is how much it intersects with the rest of the series. It’s so fun to read something Seth is going through and be able to recall what Callie was experiencing at the same time.
While we’ve known Seth for ages, Grayson has remained a bit of mystery to reader so getting his story was equally pleasant. I always wondered about him and wanted to know more, wanting him to play a larger role in Callie’s story, so I was thrilled getting to know him inside and out. I couldn’t imagine a better match for Seth. Grayson is just the kind of patient, encouraging, caring, guy that Seth needs, especially after all he’s been through.
Seth & Grayson is a wonderful story. It’s the right mix of romance and heartache and finding oneself that Jessica Sorensen always seems to nail! If you loved Seth before, you’ll love him even more after reading this!
